COP Decisions on Synergies

This page brings together Conference of the Parties (COP) decisions that promote synergies among the Rio Conventions. It provides a reference point for how Parties have guided our cooperation through formal outcomes of the negotiation process.

COPs and intersessional meetings

The CBD, UNCCD and UNFCCC Conferences of the Parties, together with their intersessional processes — such as the UNCCD Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC), the UNFCCC meetings of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), and the CBD meetings of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) and the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI) — provide key platforms for countries and stakeholders to align action, share knowledge and strengthen synergies across the Rio Conventions. By fostering collaboration on interconnected challenges, these processes help accelerate progress toward global environmental goals.

Among the key convention articles and COP decisions promoting synergies are the following:
